Visual Arts
If Art is a mirror of the culture of a nation, India's cultural heritage certainly doesn't fit in one distinct reflection. Indian visual arts heritage is so vibrant and diverse that with every change in locality, culture, and even climate, a new art form can be discovered. Indian visual arts have evolved with different periods in history. From the eras of ancient rulers to colonial times, continuing to contemporary times, artists have been able to capture the essence of each period. The engagement of Indians with their ancient and traditional art forms is so intimate that it can be found imprinted even on regular household items, for example, Madhubani paintings on pen stand, bedsheets, etc.
At Pratha, we intend to bring to our readers the best of Indian visual art because, without this, Indian culture cannot be explored in the best of its colours!
